  1. Count Dooku (crew) is on a ship. That ship is at range zero of an enemy ship. The ship that Count Dooku is on performs a range zero primary attack against the enemy ship. Can the ship with Count Dooku use Count Dooku's ability and modify the defender's dice while performing a primary attack at range zero? Count Dooku's ability is (errata version): The rules reference states (pg. 5 of Rules Reference, version 1.4.31): We also know that it is the player who rolled the dice who modifies the dice result (pg. 39 of Rules Reference, version 1.4.31): Therefore, since it is the player who rolls the dice who does the actual modification, can Count Dooku modify a defender's dice during a range zero primary attack? Or, is Count Dooku still considered modifying the enemy ship's dice result even though it is the enemy player who is choosing and modifying the dice result?
  2. Step 2 of Attack reads: Bo-Katan Kryze crew ability reads: The Bo-Katan Kryze crew ability contradicts the rules in the Attack entry of the Rules Reference. This contradiction appears to be causing mass confusion and even at the highest level of tournament play (such as at Adepticon). Some Marshals have ruled that Bo-Katan Kryze's ability is valid for primary attacks at range 0, and other Marshals have ruled that her ability is only valid if the attacker is using a weapon that allows the attacker to modify range 0 attacks. The "Golden Rules" entry of the Rules Reference states in relevant portion: Thus, the rules as written, unequivocally indicates that Bo-Katan Kryze crew allows the ship she is on to reroll 1 attack dice during range 0 attacks (whether the attack is a primary attack or with other weapons). Please confirm whether or not Bo-Katan Kryze crew allows ships to reroll 1 attack dice during range 0 attacks so the community may apply a consistent rule.
  3. ISB Jingoist reads: When using this ability, must the ISB Jingoist player declare whether they are choosing a strain or deplete token before the opposing player chooses to remove one green token? Or does the opposing player choose whether to remove one green token or not, and if they don't then the ISB Jingoist player can declare whether the token is a strain or deplete token?
  4. Thane Kyrell states: When using Thane Kyrell's ability, do only you get to look at the defender's facedown damage cards? For example, if the defending ship has three face down damage cards, and Thane Kyrell rolls a blank, blank, and eye result on his attack. Thane can spend the eye result to look at the defender's three facedown damage cards, choose one, and expose it. Is the Thane Kyrell player the only person who gets to see the three facedown damage cards or does the defending player also get to see those cards? In other words, is the act of looking at the defender's facedown damage cards information only privy to the Thane Kyrell player (as opposed to open information for both players)?
  5. Thermal Detonators states: When using Thermal Detonators, must you declare beforehand whether you are going to drop 1 or 2 thermal detonators before placing them? Or, can you drop 1 thermal detonator, see where it drops in relation to other objects on the play mat, and then decide whether you want to drop the other thermal detonator?
  6. If Roark Garnet uses his ability to target a friendly ship, and that friendly ship has Swarm Tactics, can that friendly ship choose another friendly ship at range 1 to now engage at initiative 7? (Thus, now you have two ships engaging at initiative 7.)
  7. The word "within" is specifically defined in the rules reference as "An object is within a specified range if the entirety of it is inside that range." (Rules Reference, version 1.3.0, page 16.) Therefore, no part of Moralo Eval's base can be beyond range 1.
  8. Moralo Eval's ability states: "If you would flee, you may spend 1 [charge]. If you do, place yourself in reserves instead. At the start of the next Planning Phase, place yourself within range 1 of the edge of the play area that you fled from." What does "within range 1" mean? Must all of Moralo Eval's base be fully within range 1 of the board edge from which he fled? Or can only a portion of his base be within range 1 of the board edge from which he fled?
  9. When exactly during an attack is a strain token removed from a strained ship after it defends? Is it removed between steps 3a and 3b? Or after step 3b? Or during step 6?
  10. Scenario: There is very little time remaining in a close game. The losing player wants one more round to try and win the game. While the players are rolling dice for attacks and defenses in the engagement phase, the losing player sets a maneuver dial for one of his ships and places it face down. The players then finish all dice rolls for attacks and defenses for the Engagement Phase, and resolve all Engagement Phase abilities. The losing player immediately declares out loud: "Planning Phase!" The losing player points out that he has a maneuver dial set already. Time in the game expires seconds later. Neither of the players have acknowledged the End Phase, or performed any End Phase tasks such as flipping recurring tokens to active, flipping force back to active, and/or removing circular tokens from play to create an accurate board state for a next turn (if there should even be a next turn). It is likely that if the players had acknowledged the End Phase and performed End Phase tasks that time in the game would have expired. Questions Presented: Do players have a duty to acknowledge the End Phase and perform End Phase tasks prior to setting a dial? Can a player set a maneuver dial in a phase other than the Planning Phase before time expires to justify being in the "planning phase" so that they get one more round in the game and skip over the End Phase? Is the answer to question #2 dependent on whether there are any End Phase abilities which need to be resolved? Certainly, if there are any End Phase abilities that can happen (i.e. "at the start of the End Phase" or "during the End Phase"), then those must be resolved and cannot be unilaterally skipped -- especially if they are the opponent's abilities. But what if the End Phase tasks are only the mere formalities of flipping recurring charges, flipping force back to active, and/or removing circular tokens. Can a losing player skip those tasks which are to be performed in the End Phase, set their dial(s) before time expires to justify being in the Planning Phase, and then go back and tend to End Phase tasks after time has now expired while the other player sets their dials? Is an accurate board state required for setting a dial? Is an accurate board state required for a declaration that the players are now in the Planning Phase?
