About Me

  1. Can you get cover 1 from terrain and cover 1 from bodyguard (so +2) at tye same time?
  2. It is possible to have more than 1 cover from terrain? Supposing I meet all the requirements more than once, or in any other way?
  3. While using Ram as a ranged attack using 5th Brother with Saber Throw, how does it interact with Cover? Does cover remove dice altogether like Dodge, or does it turn dice blank, which could then be turned in to crits using Ram?
  4. When defending from an overrun attack, can the defending unit benefit from cover, suppression, or low profile?
  5. If a character has cover, can they change skulls rolled in defense into a block?
  6. Hello there, To gain the benefit of a hunker token in response to a ranged attack does that attack have to come from an angle that crosses a piece of terrian? Magnaguards grant cover 1 does this trigger the bonus of a hunker token giving me 2 dice added? Further with Magnaguards, if I'm getting cover 1 from a piece of terrian does their ability than stack to cover 2? Would this stack with a hunker token to give me 3 dice?
  7. Would a unit with Death From Above (DFA) ignore the cover on a repulsor vehicle that has native Cover X on its unit card (e.g. Raddaugh Gnasp Fluttercraft) if the DFA unit was on a piece of obstacle terrain height 1+ and the repulsor vehicle was on the table (I.e. lower height than the attacking DFA unit)? As worded, it sounds like this would indeed be the case, but just asking for clarification since the cover is provided by the unit card’s Cover X and not a piece of terrain.
  8. Hello, if a speeder bike with cover 1 is also obscured from the attacker by terrain does this upgrade to heavy cover? Or, is the cover 1 keyword allowing for the unit zipping across the board being hard to hit mean that cover cannot therefore be improved? Thanks
  9. Assume Mysterio is attacked while in cover and the attacker pays the two power for Smoke and Mirrors so that Mysterio only rolls one die for defense. On that defense roll, Mysterio rolls a blank. Mysterio uses cover to change the blank to a block. Am I correct in thinking that Master of Illusions would resolve at Step 14b of the end of the attack sequence, and therefore Mysterio does not get a power from Master of Illusions because the die now counts as a block and not a blank? Thank you.
  10. In a previous post clarifying genosians Death from Above ability, it was stated that troopers on the table surface not overlapping terrain are at not at height 1. For speeders and other vehicles whose silhouette is measured from a hull that doesn’t touch their base, are they also not at height 1 on the table surface? Or does their silhouette being off the surface place them within height 1? And if they’re not at height 1, is the Cover X keyword negated by death from above?
  11. Does a bomb cart grant cover too a enemy unit if the leader of the shoting unit is in base contact with the cart?
  12. My question is: Are the rules in the rulebook for Measurement, Line of Sight and Hunker Tokens & Cover worded correctly, or are they wrong and need changing? The rules for Measurement on page 16 of the rulebook states (emphasis mine): This seems quite clear and unambiguous. It specifically states that only 'when measuring distance' is the 'vertical distance' discounted. It goes on further to clarify that players may only use a measurement or range tool to measure distances and "may not use any other device to measure distances". Is the wording and language used here correct? The Line of Sight rules on page 37 of the rulebook states (emphasis mine): Again, clear and unambiguous. But take note of the language used, it is specifically talking about 'drawing a line', not 'measuring a distance'. Is the wording and language used here correct? The fourth bullet point of the Hunker Tokens & Cover rules on page 37 of the rulebook states (emphasis mine): Note the language used: "a straight line can be drawn". Again, this is 'drawing a line', not 'measuring a distance'. There is nothing here to indicate, or even suggest, that 'vertical distance is discounted' when drawing a line. Additionally, it uses the language 'through' and not 'overlapping', further distancing itself from the Measurement rules. Is the wording and language used here correct? The rules as written in the rulebook seem clear, unambiguous and intuitive. However, the moderator Thoras, in a forum post dated 15 June, titled 'Cover' stated: Is this ruling correct? If so, I would suggest the wording and language used in the current rulebook does not in any way reflect that intent. As an aside, if this ruling is correct, it opens the game up to some truly weird, very unintuitive, and not uncommon circumstances where, say, two characters face each other on a gantry, for example, with literally nothing between them but the floor, and still they get cover? Or, a character could be stood under a gantry that towers many elevations above their head (such as on a very nice Ewok village board I saw)... and still they get cover from it? Whereas in the rules as they are currently written, it is clear they would not. Thank you for your time and consideration
  13. Character A and Character B are at the same elevation from each other. Character A is under a bridge and the bridge is at a higher elevation than Character A. Character B uses a ranged attack on Character A. Does Character A have cover even though there is no terrain that is obstructing the attack at the same elevation?
  14. Per the CRB entry, Low Profile applies if the unit "has cover" that cancels at least 1 hit. Also per the CRB, Smoke Tokens "improve the numerical value of their cover by 1". Are these the same thing or different? For instance, if a unit is improving the numerical value of its cover by 1 because of a Smoke Token, but otherwise would not have any cover applied to the attack, is it considered to "have cover" because of the Smoke Token for the purposes of Low Profile?
  15. My local gaming group is currently using the interpretation that if you are stood on a terrain piece ie a gantry, then you are within 1 of it, and from a top down elevation the ruler passes through the terrain piece, so you would therefore gain cover when hunkered even when stood in the open and very exposed. So according to the below photo assuming Ahsoka is hunkered she is also in cover from the battle droids as she is within 1" of the terrain piece she is stood on, and the range ruler would pass through that terrain piece (top down, not side elevation). My interpretation of the rules would be that the gantry is a terrain piece at a lower elevation than the battle droids, so Ahsoka would not be able to gain cover due to standing on the gantry. If the droids were stood on the floor, the gantry would be at the same or higher elevation to them, and the range rule would pass through it so she would get the benefit of cover. She would gain cover from Kalani as she is within 1 of the dish, which is at the same elevation as Kalani and a straight line can be drawn through the terrain piece. Please can you clarify which interpretation is correct? Is the gantry you are stood on actually on the lower elevation, and is therefore not eligible for cover rules for characters on the same level? Thanks
  16. What if i got attack and the roll its 2 hits 2 crits, at that time i have cover 2 and a dodge token but no outmanouver so the cover will block 2 hits, i spend my dodge in way to benefit from djem so, does the hits cancelled by cover count as the requirement of "cancelled hits or crit during cover and dodge step" to cause a wound to the atacking unit?
  17. Currently only applies to droideka's as all other vehicle units are repulsor and don't block line of sight. So the question is, does a droideka block LOS for the other droideka in it's unit. So in the graphic, can both droideka's shoot the target or only droideka 1 because 2's line of sight is blocked by 1.
  18. From what I understand based on the wording of the rules: If you are attacking a character at a lower elevation than you, the defender does not benefit from any cover. If you are defending from an attacker at a lower elevation than you, you get +1 cover. Please let me know if this is accurate and if not, a synopsis of the benefits of high ground would be fantastic.
  19. Do attackers get to ignore objects they are overlapping when determining cover?
  20. So I wanted a clarification. Magneto grants cover to models within range 3 of him. Per cover rules if an attack originates within 2 of cover model there is no coverage benefit. Exp toad is within 3 of magneto. Cyclops is within 2 & is targeting Toad. Would toad be able to alter dice due to cover in this case?
  21. Salutations, when I use a weapon with Beam X will cover for the X shots after the initial one be determined from the unit that is shooting or from the enemy unit the beam hits and goes on from there? I have a Saber Tank that is elevated on a building and can look over a wall. Behind that wall are three enemy units all getting cover 2 from the Sabers point of view but all units are visible. But they are not in cover from each other. So for the first shot obviously the enemy unit will get cover from the wall, but then when the beam moves to the next enemy unit, does it get cover or not? So does the beam hop from unit to unit therefore originating from the first hit unit or does the beam originates from the tank for all attacks and it is turning its turret to shoot at another unit granting it cover? But if that would be the case it wouldn't be plausible that you can shoot at units that are farther away than the max range of the beam weapon as the rules for it state. Am I overthinking this? We played it, that cover will be applied for every subsequent attack pool, but I'd like you to clarify if that is right. Thank you very much. Best wishes, Christian
  22. When two miniatures are both on terrain of the same elevation and each has a hunker token, does the terrain they are on give them an extra defence die in a ranged attack?
  23. Reading the rules posted online today (6/2/2023), the Hunker Tokens and Cover section has been updated with Hunker Tokens being required for cover. Having a hunker token is now the first bullet point in order to determine cover. Later it also states that having a hunker token gives cover. So, is the only way to have cover by having a Hunker Token? If this is the case, are the other requirements for cover necessary, as the text for Hunker Tokens states "Units can also gain Cover from Hunker tokens"? Or, is having the Hunker Token simply a prerequisite for any cover that meets the other requirements?
  24. In this paragraph, what does "a straight line through terrain parts" means exactly? If all other conditions of cover are met: Case 1: 501 and B1 is on the same terrain part at the exactly same height (also, the same elevation). They both have a hunker token. When they range attack each other, will they gain Cover [2]? Case 2: 501 and B1 is on the different terrain part at the exactly same height (also, the same elevation). They both have a hunker token. When they range attack each other, will they gain Cover [2]? Case 3: 501 and B1 is on the different terrain part at the different height (but within range 2, which is the same elevation). They both have a hunker token. When 501 range attack B1, can B1 gain Cover [2]? Also, does Open terrain grant a character cover? It does not specific Blocked terrain in the cover section of the rule. Thank you.
  25. After the change in cover rules on the 2nd june, do Magnaguards provide cover (1) to a primary or secondary? Or does that unit need a hunker and if so would get cover (2)? Thanks!
