  1. Hello there! This evening I played a rather interesting tense game, in which there was a lot of hand-to-hand combat. Of course, there were some cases, the legality of which I would like to clarify, just in case. First, Anakin, Rex and Phase II Clone Troopers with Fives got stuck in the squad of Snowtroopers. Example in the picture. As you can see, Fives has a standby token. When snowtroopers activate, their first action is to dodge. Fives spends his standby token and performs an attack action, defeating one snowtrooper. The core rule book says the following: Removing miniatures in melee. When miniatures in melee are defeated, space may be created for the attacking miniatures to advance. After the attack is resolved, starting with the attacking player, each player must place any friendly miniatures that are no longer in base contact with miniatures in the enemy unit into base contact with the enemy unit. The rules of cohesion must still be followed during these placements. If, for any reason, miniatures cannot be placed back into base contact with an enemy miniature and none of the miniatures belonging to that unit are in base contact with an enemy miniature, those miniatures do not move and that unit is no longer in melee. Do I understand correctly, based on the description, that Fives’ squad moves the remaining clones into base contact with the survived snowtrooper unit leader, because he was the attacking unit, thereby freeing Rex from engagement? Second, can Anakin do a force push by moving the snowtrooper carrying the hostage just a little so that the snowtrooper remains engaged with Fives, while freeing Anakin from the engagement? If I understand correctly, this snowtrooper doesn't start melee combat because he's already in it, but I'm still not sure about that.
  2. Vehicles can't be blocked in melee, and here I've found a question I'm not absolutely sure how to solve it. If it's possible physicly to stand in base contact with both vehicle (BARK speeder for example) and trooper unit, can such maneur be performed? Or it's impossible due to restriction that only one unit could be engaged in melee from the move of atacking unit?
  3. If Luke uses You Serve Your Master Well on an enemy unit which has at least one model in base contact with another enemy unit, is a melee engagement created for the duration of You Serve Your Master Well. If so, must the enemy unit (controlled by the Luke player) immediately snap into proper melee cohesion?
  4. Can a unit move into melee to a unit with hostage in turn 1, but not bigin a melee attack?
  5. Hi everyone, We ran into a new situation this evening that we couldn't find the answer to, even here on the forums (though maybe my searching skills failed me). Unit A is in Melee with Unit B. Unit B has several figures as part of their unit and are engaged around Unit A. Unit C moves up and also engages in a Melee attack with Unit B. The rules say that when you start a Melee, move the figures from the defending unit into base contact with the attacking unit. It doesn't specify if this is overridden by the fact that someone is engaged. So our question was this... When Unit C moves into base contact with a figure from Unit B, do the other figures from Unit B move from base contact with Unit A (where they are engaged) into base contact with Unit C? Or do they stay where they are? Thanks for any help and insight you can provide!
  6. One question here might have already answered this, but it wasn't quite what I was wondering. My questions is: when the attacker moves (a multi-mini unit) in and engages the defender (multi mini) unit starting a melee, the rules show the attacker placing one of each of their units minis into base contact with one other mini from the defender. So, does the attacker need to assign as many minis as they can to as many of the defenders minis (so if both units had 5 minis each it would be 1 mini per mini, sort of like in the rules reference picture) or, could the attacker fit all their minis around the one mini the unit leader moved into contact with and then have the defenders mini be moved into contact around them.
  7. If a single model moves into contact with a unit of 5+ models, the rules say that as many models fit in then the rest are placed in cohesion. Would it therefore be acceptable in the above scenario for the player of the 5+ unit to move 4 models in and then place the unit leader at the edge of cohesion from all the models which are in base contact with the attacker? If so, this means that the withdraw move can lead to the 5+ model unit being > Spd-1 from the attacker. Is this correct? Thanks
  8. Unit A attacked B Unit C attacked A. Not all models from C touch in base contact A. B makes withdraw. Some models from A doesnt tounch all from C. So do(and if yes:when) models from A going to C? If yes: 1. Imediately After withdraw B? 2. On start/or end activ A/C? Thx
  9. Hi! My question is - Can C3PO(Golden God) engage enemy units? He definitely can't initiate melee combat because he doesn't have a melee weapon.
  10. Hi, I was wondering if you could force Iden Versio's unit to get into melee engagement by contacting ID-10's base (assuming this is easier than just contacting Iden). Since ID-10 has small, it usually doesn't matter where you position it, but small doesn't mention anything about melee. I've asked online and most people and I interpret that you can force it, but I was wondering if the moderators would like to confirm it or clarify something. Thank you.
  11. Hello there! We had a recent interaction in a game that I'd like to get some clarification on: In this round, my opponent played "Size Matters Sometimes" and activated Chewbacca as his first order activation. Chewbacca was enraged from a previous turn, and thus had charge. Using Chewbacca, my opponent moved twice, with the last move being a charge towards an ARC Trooper unit #1, ending in base contact with them, and putting them into melee (Chewie + ARC Trooper #1). According to the "Size matter Sometimes" card, he then placed Yoda in base contact with Chewbacca, but in such a way that Yoda was also in base contact with another nearby ARC Trooper unit #2. (Yoda + ARC Trooper #2) We ruled this as being okay to do, but the interaction is still unclear to me. Questions: Is this a legal move? As I know a unit cannot initiate a melee with multiple units per activation, but Yoda is not the same unit as Chewbacca in this interaction, so it seems to be fine regarding this ruling. The card "Size matters sometimes" states that Yoda cannot perform moves if he is placed in base contact with Chewbacca at the start of the Command Card. Does this allow Yoda to (as per the explanation above) move into melee, as per the core rulebooks "moving into melee" ruling? As that only states that miniatures in base-to-base contact, are considered to be in melee? Thank you!
  12. Hi ! Chewie goes in melee with an enemy unit. 1) Chewie goes in melee, the opponent does the unit's cohesion then Yoda is placed in base contact with Chewie if able. Or 2) Chewie goes in melee, Yoda is placed in base contact with Chewie then my opponent does the unit's cohesion. If Chewie has charge, is there any change in the correct sequence ?
  13. If the defender has to move miniatures into base contact with an attacking unit in melee, is this considered a move and will trigger a standby?
  14. So my opponent has left 2 units very close together, my Luke charges in and manages to get into B2B contact with a mini from unit A and unit B. 1. Are both unit A&B engaged? 2. does Luke have to declare which unit is engaged? 3. If Luke declares he is engaged with unit A can unit B move freely out of B2B contact without having to withdraw?
  15. 1) If Yoda and Chewie aren't in base contact for whatever reason on the turn this card is activated, does Chewie lose the ability to use red dice and deflect while they are not in base? 2) If i play Chewie's 2 pip and Yoda cannot be placed into base contact immediately, can the text of the card (Yoda speed negation, Chewie red dice) still be activated or does it all fizzle? The idea here would be that later in the turn, you'd get Yoda into base and get the red saves. 3) After Chewie moves, can Yoda be placed into base contact with multiple enemy units at once? 4) Does Yoda snap into Chewie if he's meant to be in base? (Example here would be Chewie moves to engage a unit, but there's no space to place Yoda in base with Chewie so he gets placed as close as possible. Chewie defeats the unit he just based and now there's space for Yoda to get into base contact. Does he snap in?) 5) After Chewie moves, if Yoda cannot be placed in base contact and there's multiple places that are equally close to Chewie; could Yoda be placed in one of those places such that he ends up engaged with an enemy unit?
  16. If ther's no way to maintain cohesion at the end of move action, minis must be placed as close to the unit leader as possible. Does the same apply when moving into melee?
