About Me

  1. Would a model such as the one in the picture be legally placed because he is able to balance entirely within the footprint of the terrain piece? This has caused some confusion in my group because some believe this constitutes floating, but it can balance on its own and not overlap the edges of the terrain.
  2. Would a unit with Death From Above (DFA) ignore the cover on a repulsor vehicle that has native Cover X on its unit card (e.g. Raddaugh Gnasp Fluttercraft) if the DFA unit was on a piece of obstacle terrain height 1+ and the repulsor vehicle was on the table (I.e. lower height than the attacking DFA unit)? As worded, it sounds like this would indeed be the case, but just asking for clarification since the cover is provided by the unit card’s Cover X and not a piece of terrain.
  3. Hello, if a speeder bike with cover 1 is also obscured from the attacker by terrain does this upgrade to heavy cover? Or, is the cover 1 keyword allowing for the unit zipping across the board being hard to hit mean that cover cannot therefore be improved? Thanks
  4. Please see the scenario below, does the ewok have LOS on the stormtrooper and vise versa, Orange is silhouette height. Basicall, the ewok can fit under the ramp due to its small model size, but the silhouette sticks above it. Can the stormtrooper shoot at it even though there is no "regular" sightline.
  5. Hello, A unit with speed 2 and JUMP 1 find its way onto a plateform at height 2. Can it moves to another plateform at the same height and within a move 2 distance, crossing over a height 2 gap in the process ? (pic attached for clarity) Thanks for your help.
  6. Hello, Can a unit with jump X jump down a height grater than X? For example, can a jedi with jump 1 jump from a piece of height 2 terrain down to the table surface?
  7. Hello There!, In a recent tournament the following scenario came up with movement regarding the JUMP keyword, with the following parameters set on terrain and minis which were discussed prior to the game starting: Grey box ruin terrain with no windows or doors - Heavy cover, LOS blocking, Height 1, Impassable, non-difficult terrain. (Note that the terrain has a roof covering, as indicated, and is thus cube shaped, but open on two sides). We ruled the walls as being impassable for normal movement, but the roof you are still able to move onto, normally with climbs or such. Blue - Anakin Red - Maul Scenario: In the previous turn Anakin had nestled himself into the corner of this terrain piece to avoid incoming fire from enemy units. in the next turn I attempted to move Anakin with the JUMP keyword as indicated in scenario A, with the movement tool overlapping the terrain (shown on image). In an attempt to get into melee with Maul, by "jumping" through the terrain without changing height, but ignoring the terrain piece. My opponent said this is not possible, as they believe the JUMP keyword cannot go through walls or terrain, only over them when changing height with movement. I argued against this stating that the movement keyword states the following: "The unit performs a move action as normal and can ignore or end its movement on top of terrain that is height X or lower." and "...When making a move with the Jump X action, a unit may place the movement template overlapping impassable terrain but may not end its move overlapping it" Thus to my understanding the jump keyword may be used to move through terrain pieces as indicated in scenario A, even when not changing heights. Questions: What is the correct scenario and usage of the JUMP keyword, A or B? Can the JUMP keyword be used even without changing heights between terrain? (i.e. jumping from height 0 to another part of the battlefield that is also height 0) Thanks!
  8. I'm struggling to wrap my head around whether or not a Terrain Feature that has no subdivisions is simultaneously a Terrain Part. This matters for the following section of the LoS rules: "The line cannot pass through Blocked terrain features with a higher Elevation than the character. If the object is on top of a terrain part, the line can pass unobstructed through all terrain parts with the same or lower Elevation as the object." I was watching a video where the shooting character was on the battlefield and the target object was on a gantry on the opposite side of a standard small Shatterpoint building. There was no line that could be drawn between them without crossing through the building (blocked terrain). Both the gantry and the building were of the same elevation. The first part of the quote above would indicate that the shot is not possible as it passes only through the blocked terrain feature. The second part of the quote would indicate that the shot is possible IF a terrain feature is also always a terrain part. I know players can agree to whatever they want, but I think they need to know the base rule before they can agree if they are suspending that rule or simply playing by it. Thanks!
  9. Hello there, If a unit uses the Jump X keyword, is it able to ignore terrain like a solid roof and effectively "teleport" itself through a roof? Or is the ability to ignore terrain restricted only to horizontal movement?
  10. Now that we have a second mission for people to choose from, how should terrain be handled at events? For Showdown and Premier Showdown it is up to the EO to set the terrain. However as players can now choose from multiple missions (and there will be additional missions in the future), it may be that terrain is placed in such a way that the objective markers can not be placed legally. What should be done in this position? It would be time consuming for the EO to go around to every table after mission selection to adjust the terrain, but there is no guidance in the OP rules as to what to do.
  11. I very much appreciate the specificity of the rules-writing for this game. The Push/Pull rules on page 24 of the Core Rules are a good example of this. I do have a situation that I can't seem to make sense of by those rules, however. Per bullet point five, if an object on a terrain feature is Pushed or Pulled into a terrain part on that feature and at the same elevation, the object does not stop at the part. However, if the exact same Push or Pull happens on the battlefield, the object stops. I'm thinking of crates, in particular. If the object is on a gantry (terrain part) and Pushed or Pulled into a crate terrain part) on that gantry, it keeps going through the crate. Again, per bullet point five. But, on the battlefield (not a terrain part or feature) the exact same Push or Pull into the exact same crate would stop the movement, as per bullet point one because the crate is not on a terrain part, but rather the battlefield (and thus becomes a terrain feature instead of a terrain part on the same terrain feature as the moving object). I'm struggling to make sense of why the rules seem to let Pushed objects go through crates on a flat gantry but not in a flat battlefield. I'm probably overlooking something, though, so please help! Thanks!
  12. Had a situation come up and wasn’t sure of the correct outcome. A model is standing on top of a terrain piece with multiple levels. It is pushed onto a lower elevation, but would end in a position where it would be partially overlapping the lower terrain part and the battlefield. In this situation, the higher elevation partially overlapped the lower one. Because of this, the pushed model was never completely overlapping the lower elevation after it left the higher elevation. The rules for this say “If an object that is on top of a terrain part is Pushed or Pulled and would end that movement partially overlapping an object that is at a lower Elevation, it stops along the movement tool at the last position that was not partially overlapping that object.” Would this situation end with the model A: stopping on the lower elevation, partially beneath the higher elevation and not overlapping the battlefield B: unable to change elevation at all and remaining at the higher elevation that it started on
  13. Would a character who starts not overlapping a gantry but gets pushed/pulled toward a gantry get stopped right before overlapping the gantry even if their model and base do not physically contact the gantry and they are at a lower elevation than the gantry?
  14. If an object is being pushed/pulled should you ignore, for purposes of determining if the pushed/pulled object should stop, only the terrain part that the pushed/pulled object is on top of or all parts, which are at the same elevation as the moving object, of the terrain feature the pushed/pulled object is on top of?
  15. do the tabs we put on the bridges, stop a character from being pushed or pulled off. is it consider terrain to stop that.
  16. Can you push models through passable terrain? For example if I use force push and on enemy model's way there is a couple of boxes, but model's base can be clearly put behind those boxes - do you finish the push after 'hitting' those boxes? Or are you allowed to put the model behind them?
  17. It is said that we may place our character within Range 1 of an Ingress Point after shifting the Elevation where the character used to be at. However, since the Ingress Point refers to a Terrain Feature, which is physically an object rather than a single dot, from which point shall we start to measure the Range 1 horizontally? A ladder for example - Is the mid point of its width the only start point allowed for measuring, or is any point at any end of its width allowed?
  18. Should all terrain parts that are connected together or touching be typically considered a single terrain feature, for example should a gantry and the two buildings the gantry is supported on be typically considered a single terrain feature?
  19. Hi! Is it legal to shove someone from a terrain to a lower level if the shoved character's base would be fully outside that terrain after the shove?
  20. If two terrain features meet all the requirements in order to provide cover for an attack would the defending character gain Cover [2] for the defense roll?
  21. Can emplacement troopers (notched bases) be deployed on terrain if their base over hangs?
  22. Hi! Is it possible to push a character who is standing on elevated terrain (a bridge for example) off of that terrain piece? The core rules specifically state that you cannot push some one up to a higher elevation but does not speak of pushing someone down to a lower elevation.
  23. When you have a generic non-action move ability like scout or the move 2 from You disappoint me, does the speed get reduced if the model being moved goes over difficult terrain.
  24. Say I have a speeder bike (with speeder 1) stuck at the corner of a building of height 1. For its compulsory move, do I have to use the Speeder 1 keyword to ignore the building and make the full move, or can I declare not to ignore the height of the building, forcing the bike to stop and only do a partial move? The question arose since the Speeder X and Hover: Air X keyword does not force you to ignore terrain of height X, as it states that you "can move over or end its movement on terrain equal to or less than height X", while in my understanding, "can" is optional. Furthermore, if the terrain is infinite height, or just taller than the "X" of the keyword, does it mean that the speeder bike will be stuck forever if I choose not to spend an action and make a turn during its activation?
  25. I have a couple questions regarding silhouettes and terrain. The first is more just looking to get official confirmation here in case someone questions it: When placing minis near terrain, the piece of terrain cannot "enter" the cylinder that would be created by a minis silhouette correct? Assuming the above is correct: Would a mini be able to enter "base contact" with a piece of terrain (such as the angled portion of a barricade or the nose of an x-wing) if when viewed from above, there is no space between the mini's base and the piece of terrain, similar to how 2 minis can enter base contact with each other? For minis that are taller than a small base silhouette (such as an ARC trooper on a flight stand or a Wookiee with his arm raised) if the silhouette could fit under a piece of terrain like an overhang but the mini itself cannot fit because it is too tall, is it legal to place the mini there? If yes then how would this be accomplished on a table?
