Gaining strain mid-action

In an instance when a unit would gain the strained condition part way through and action, for example: Ahsoka Tano Jedi No More triggers fierce protector after the first attack of a combat action in a multi-character unit and applies strain. When does the unit take the damage? Would they take 3 damage after the second character attacked? If the second character chooses not to make and attack as part of the action does it still trigger? At what point is an action considered to be ended for the purposes of strained?

The Strained condition will trigger after the first attack is completed.
