How About You Step Aside? Timing

here's a weird one: what's the timing resolution if Cad Bane throws "How About You Step Aside?" at Obi-Wan, Out of Hiding with his "Greater Purpose?"

HAYSA reads (in part): "If the chosen character is still contesting the chosen objective, it gains and ! and strain"
GP reads (in part): "When this unit would gain !, one character in this unit may recover instead."

 

So ... does Obi receive the conditions "simultaneously" enough that the heal can be used on the strain? Or do they come in left-to-right, such that Greater Purpose goes off and resolves, then the strain comes in (and the Greater Purpose !-to-recover conversion can't be applied to the strain)?

Is there a timing window between the chosen character gaining the expose and the strain?

In particular when does Greater Purpose trigger on Obi-Wan Kenobi, Out of Hiding? Before or after the strain is applied to Obi-Wan?

They would be applied one at a time

Before.

How About you Step Aside? would attempt to apply the Exposed, triggering Greater Purpose. Once you have resolved Greater Purpose, you would apply the Strain from How About you Step Aside?
