Combat actions and mind trick

Recommended Posts

Can we please have some guidance on whether mind trick ends the combat action (or doesn't).

As the attack is nested within the 'combat action'.

For instance - with a two character unit if you mind trick the first characters attack, the 'combat action' isn't resolved until both attacks are done?!

All mind trick says is that the  attack ends; and then it chains into a new attack - that yes, whilst generated by mind trick is still potentially within the units 'combat action' as they haven't completely ended that action window yet.

It's commonly held that mind trick does end the action; but this is the same assumption that led to coordinated fire and life drain being used on the same attack.

I guess since it appears to be a difference without distinction; why attacks within the combat action aren't part of the combat action?

Thanks

Thanks and this doesn't address my primary concern which is:

Where does the assumption that an attack during the combat action; is not part of the combat action come from?

What is the distinction within the language that makes it so?

"An attack as a part of a combat action" means the attack was granted by the character making a combat action rather then, as an example, using an ability that directly provides an attack. Something occurring during the resolution of another rule doesn't necessarily mean it comes from that rule.
