Never Tell Me The Odds Timing

Hello,
When a character that is challenging the odds wounds a unit during an attack does the mission’s effect to pay a force to move the struggle token one space towards your momentum trigger immediately after step 9 or during step 10.e?

It occurs during the step that the Unit becomes Wounded. If that occurs as a result of the damage pool being applied, it would occur during Step 9 of the attack.
