Wounded Rules Clarification

I’m hoping someone has some insight into something that’s been stumping our local group. The rules for being wounded say “Wounded Units cannot suffer damage or have damage removed from them.”

Does this mean that if a unit is to receive damage, they just don’t? Or does this mean if they are supposed to receive damage they can’t. Specifically for abilities like Inexorable Advance, which says “the chosen Unit may Advance. Then, if any characters Advance, the chosen Unit suffers 1 damage.” Can they do the advance and just not take the damage? Or can they not advance because they “cannot suffer damage”?

That’s correct.

I am not sure I understand the distinction between this and the first question.
