KjcKiesh
Hi there! I was not sure whether I should split this into multiple topics or not as they all stem from how Promote works. As written Promote says "The promoted unit counts as a Commander for all rules purposes" So as written, would that mean: 1) Units with AI: Action within range 3 of a Promoted trooper unit can ignore AI: Action. 2) Promoted trooper units can use command card effects such as from Orbital Strike which say "Once this round, at the end of the activation of a friendly Commander droid trooper unit or friendly field commander unit, it may preform an attack using the following weapon". 3) Promoted trooper units cannot be given faceup order tokens when using cards that specify a rank other than Commander, even if it was their old rank (eg: Coordinated Fire specifies 3 Corps units, so that would make a Promoted Stormtrooper unit no longer elligible to receive a faceup order token from this card). 4) Promoted trooper units can use Special Rules from their Battle Force which specify use of a Commander unit (eg: Experimental Droids Battle Force allows nomination of a Commander unit to give 3 surge tokens to; Imperial Remnant Battle Force allows a nominated Commander to issue orders only at Range 2, with all units beyond Range 2 gaining Independent Aim/Dodge 1. So that would mean a Promoted trooper unit could be nominated for these purposes). 5) Promoted trooper units can trigger Keywords on other units that specify a Commander (eg: Retinue: Commander and Guardian 2: Commander would both trigger if within range of a Promoted trooper unit). Would all of the above be correct? Clarification on Promote as a rule would be greatly appreciated!
Seth
Hi there, 3 minutes ago, KjcKiesh said: 1) Units with AI: Action within range 3 of a Promoted trooper unit can ignore AI: Action. Yes. The promoted unit is considered a Commander unit. 4 minutes ago, KjcKiesh said: 2) Promoted trooper units can use command card effects such as from Orbital Strike which say "Once this round, at the end of the activation of a friendly Commander droid trooper unit or friendly field commander unit, it may preform an attack using the following weapon". Yes, as above. 4 minutes ago, KjcKiesh said: 3) Promoted trooper units cannot be given faceup order tokens when using cards that specify a rank other than Commander, even if it was their old rank (eg: Coordinated Fire specifies 3 Corps units, so that would make a Promoted Stormtrooper unit no longer elligible to receive a faceup order token from this card). Correct. They replace their order token with a Commander order token and cannot be issued an order by a command card that cannot order a Commander unit. 4 minutes ago, KjcKiesh said: 4) Promoted trooper units can use Special Rules from their Battle Force which specify use of a Commander unit (eg: Experimental Droids Battle Force allows nomination of a Commander unit to give 3 surge tokens to; Imperial Remnant Battle Force allows a nominated Commander to issue orders only at Range 2, with all units beyond Range 2 gaining Independent Aim/Dodge 1. Note that the Experimental Droids interaction has been answered elsewhere. 6 minutes ago, KjcKiesh said: 5) Promoted trooper units can trigger Keywords on other units that specify a Commander (eg: Retinue: Commander and Guardian 2: Commander would both trigger if within range of a Promoted trooper unit). Correct. Hope this helps, Seth
