Deflect and guardian against melee attacks

Rules for the deflect keyword state that it works if a character is defending against a ranged attack or using guardian. However Obi-wan Kenobi can use guardian against melee attacks during the round when he plays his 2-pip. Does deflect work if he uses guardian against such an attack?

Hi there,

The Deflect keyword is active while the unit "...is defending against a ranged attack or using the Guardian X  keyword...".

If a unit is able to use Guardian X against melee attacks, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi while the Knowledge and Defense command card is in play, it may indeed apply Deflect when resolving the Guardian X keyword against a melee attack.
