A Beautiful Friendship / Log Trap interaction

1. On previous turn I played "A Beautiful Friendship".

The next turn I select "Log Traps" and nominate a Bright Tree Commander. "Log Traps" allows to issue orders to no units.

In above situation, is the requirement on the second part of "A Beautiful Friendship" that reads "When a Bright Tree Commander issued orders" satisfied?

I.e. does the part "when a Bright Tree Commander issues orders" is a requirement to issue at least one order, or does it indicate the need for Bright Tree Commander to be able to issue orders while the "Nominate commander and issue orders" step of the Activation Phase, even if the number of orders actually issued is zero?

 

2. Since "Log Traps" is a neutral command card and does not specify the need to nominate Bright Tree Commander like the other Bright Tree Village Only command cards, can I nominate a Rebel Commander, and then issue order to a Bright Tree unit using the other part of A Beautiful Friendship rule?

No. No orders have been issued by any Rebel faction or Ewok affiliation units.

There are many game effects - keywords, upgrades, and so on - that may allow a unit to issue itself or another unit an order. “Nominating a commander” when playing a command card, while typically done with the intent of issuing orders, is not the same concept and you are not automatically considered to have issued orders upon being nominated. As the Log Traps command card issues orders to “No Units,” the nominated commander that turn will issue no orders using that card, and trigger none of the effects of A Beautiful Friendship.
