Experimental Droids End Phase Tokens

As their special rule states the chosen commander unit gets 3 surge tokens placed on their unit card, will those tokens get cleaned up in End Phase's Remove Tokens step or will they remain on the card in a similar style as tokens given to card(s) by the Cache keyword?

Hello,

Surge tokens place on a unit card per the special rules of the Experimental Droids Battle Force will not be removed during the End Phase as they are on a card and not on a unit. The Cache keyword is an apt comparison!
