  1. The Beam X weapon keyword states:

    Quote

Each additional attack must be ... in LOS of the attacking unit but may be beyond the maximum range of the weapon with the Beam X keyword.

When performing an additional attack with a Beam X weapon can the defending unit be closer than the minimum range of the weapon with the Beam X keyword (e.g. with the Overwhelming Barrage command card)?

  2. The Republic Immobilized Vehicle has Red Defense dice on its unit card, but none of the other Immobilized Vehicles seems to have any defense dice. Should all the Immobilized Vehicles have Red Defense Dice?

Does their Heavy Armor also count as the Armor keyword (for Impact and cancelling all hit results) as well as preventing non-rear shots?

These scenarios have been great fun, but Disabled Vehicle ends very quickly without defense dice and armor...

  3. In the Bring Down the Shields scenario, when one of the Attacker's units performs a Console Action it rolls 3 black attack dice and "if any of the results rolled match an
uncovered slot on the Transmitter card, you may put a victory token on that slot."

Can the player do this for each matching attack die (i.e. covering up to 3 slots in one action), or just once per action no matter how many dice match?

  4. If the ship performs a more than one maneuver during its activation (through Engine Techs or Rift Ambush) must it finish resolving all the "after executing a maneuver" effects of the first maneuver before resolving any "after executing a maneuver" effects of the next maneuver? e.g. can Demolisher land on an asteroid, shoot, ET's onto a station, remove a damage from the station, and then not explode from the asteroid crit?

  5. While defending against an Ignition Attack, can the defender spend a Salvo defense token even though they will not be able to resolve its effect (e.g. to benefit from Adi Gallia's effect)?

More generally, can a defender spend a defense token during the Spend Defense Tokens step of an attack even if they will be unable to resolve the effect of spending that token (as opposed to choosing not to resolve the effect, or resolving it to no effect - e.g. bracing 1 damage, containing an attack without a crit, or redirecting and choosing not to spread the damage)?

  6. When a ship that is overlapping a dust field traces line of sight as part of an attack, if the traced line passes over only a portion of the dust cloud that is not visible due to being underneath the attacking ship can that ship perform the attack?

The attack is fine if it is the defender overlapping a dust field,

    • When a ship traces line of sight to the defending hull zone of a ship that is overlapping a dust field but the traced line does not pass over a visible portion of that obstacle, the ship can perform that attack.

and the attack would not be obstructed,

    • While a ship is overlapping an obstacle and the attacking hull zone’s traced line of sight does not pass over a visible portion of that obstacle (or another obstacle or ship), that attack is not obstructed.

but would the attack still be blocked by a dust field if line of sight was traced over a portion of the dust field beneath the attacking ship?

  7. If I resolve a command by spending a Dial and a Token, and I have some effect with that command icon as a header, how much choice do I have in the order of the different effects (the dial effect, the token effect, and the command icon header effect)?

For example, if a ship spends a CF Command Dial and Token to resolve a CF command, and has Director Krennic equipped, which of the following orders for resolving the effects would be allowed (if any any):

    1. CF-Dial effect, CF-Token effect, Krennic-Dial effect, Krennic-Token effect (resolving the whole CF Command, then both Krennic effects),
    2. Krennic-Dial effect, Krennic-Token effect, CF-Dial effect, CF-Token effect (resolving both Krennic effects, then both CF effects),
    3. CF-Dial effect, Krennic-Dial effect, CF-Token effect, Krennic-Token effect (resolving the Krennic effect after the corresponding CF effect),
    4. Krennic-Token effect, CF-Dial effect, Krennic-Dial effect, CF-Token effect (resolving in a fairly random order)?

  8. If I resolve a command by spending a Dial and a Token I have to spend both at the same time. If I have some other effect that shares a timing window with resolving that command, can I split up the Dial and Token effects of the command and resolve the other effect between them?

For example, if my ship has External Racks equipped and I resolve a Concentrate Fire Command by spending both a Dial and Token can I add the dice from the CF dial, then resolve External Racks to add two more dice, then re-roll one of them with the CF token?

  9. Can a squadron with the relay keyword resolve that keyword if it could only be activated because of another squadron's relay keyword?

Can a squadron with the relay keyword resolve that keyword if it could only be activated because of the Centicore or Triumphant upgrade cards?

We had answers to this on the old forum, but it doesn't seem to have made its way to the new one yet (and let's throw in Triumphant for future-proofing).

  10. If a Ship (or Squadron, Token etc.) is entirely overlapping an Obstacle are the Ship and Obstacle "at distance 1/close range" and/or "within distance 1/close range" of each other?

E.g. if a ship is entirely overlapping the rift in Rift Assault (and is speed 1 or lower), does it suffer the damage card from the objective and is its speed temporarily reduced by one when it resolves its "Determine Course" step?

[Also potentially relevant to Minefields (placing tokens entirely on obstacles), Abandoned Mining Facility, Contested Outpost, Doomed Station and Holonet Override (if you are really careful and can get a ship entirely on the station), Hired Scum (deploying squadrons entirely on obstacles), and Rift Ambush.]

It was a weird edge case that came up on the Discord a few days ago - if you could fit something entirely on an obstacle was it still "at" distance 1 of it. The rules for measuring distance don't really cover that situation as Armada has no distance 0 (and it is hard to measure "closest point to closest point" when all points are touching).

Or perhaps a better way of putting it is:
If a ship or squadron is entirely overlapping an obstacle, at first glance it would seem that no portion of it is inside the distance 1 (or close range) band of the obstacle, as it is all closer than that. But then we're getting into infinitesimals and so on. Basically I was just looking for something to confirm that weird edge case that things that are entirely overlapping are still at distance 1 of each other.
