"Fierce Protector" and Strained timing.

Recommended Posts

1. Support unit declares attack action.

2. First character attacks enemy and in Making An Attack step 9 apply enough damage to wound an unit.

Question 1. Should Ahsoka "Fierce protector" ability trigger now or in Making An Attack step 10 D?

3. Ahsoka moves and attacks the character. Ahsoka's attack apply Strained condition.

Question 2. Does strain condition deals 3 dmg at the end of the 1st support unit attack, the same attack that triggered "Fierce protector"?

Yes it does.

The answer to question 2 above is changing.

In order for Strained to be triggered, it must be present on the Unit when triggered by advancing, climbing, dashing, jumping, making an action, making an attack, or using an Active or Reactive ability while Strained is present on the Unit. Gaining Strained while these effects are resolving will not trigger it as the trigger was missed.

If the Strained is removed from the Unit in the course of completing the triggering effect, it will not deal damage as it has to be present when the triggering effect resolves.

In the case of this question, Strained is gained during the first character's attack and will not trigger from it as it was not there when the attack began. If the second character makes an attack, it will trigger then. It will not trigger at the end of the combat action as the combat action began before Strained was gained so the trigger is not met.
