Lando's Millennium Falcon + L3-37 Escape Craft

Recommended Posts

Lando's Millennium Falcon (title) states, "While you have an escape shuttle docked, you may treat its shields as if they were on your ship card."
L3-37 (Escape Shuttle) states, "While you are not shielded, reduce the difficulty of your bank [...] maneuvers."  Co-Pilot (Escape Shuttle) states, "While you are docked, your carrier ship has your pilot ability in addition to its own."

The "may" wording of the title reads as, "has the option to".
When does the YT-1300 declare that it is or is not using this option, and when can it choose to change this decision?
For all of the following questions, suppose a Customized YT-1300 has L3-37 docked, and has already lost 3 shields.  When it reveals a bank maneuver, can it choose to not treat the shields of the Escape Craft as being on its pilot card, and therefore benefit from the difficulty reduction given by the L3-37 pilot ability?  Suppose, later in the same round, it is attacked and suffers 1 critical damage.  Can it now choose to treat the shields of the Escape Craft as being on its pilot card, and therefore simply suffer 1 shield damage instead of a faceup damage card, even though it was not shielded earlier in the round?

Suppose we split the timing even further.  If its maneuver template moved through a debris cloud, and it rolled a critical hit result while resolving the penalty for moving through a debris, could it choose to treat the Escape Craft's shields as on the pilot card for the sake of the damage resolution, suffer the damage to an Escape Craft shield, and then complete the Execute Maneuver step while treating the banks at a reduced difficulty?  While suffering damage from an attack where there are uncanceled hits and crits, could it choose to not treat the shields as on the ship card while suffering the hit damage (i.e. be dealt damage cards facedown), and then to treat the shields as on the ship card while suffering critical damage (and simply lose shields for the crits)?

Yes, Lando's Millenium Falcon (Title) is very flexible. The title would trigger at any opportunity where the status of the shield charges needs to be checked to see if they are active or not (such as taking damage or whether a ship is shielded or not).
