Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to swap out a command card for a character that was defeated using contingencies? For example, if you have IG-11 in an army with Kallus, and IG-11 is defeated could you pick IG-11's 3 pip card but swap it out using contingencies from Kallus? Thanks in advance for the answers.

Jar'Kai mastery says that "For each dodge token spent, improve 1 attack dice result" but I can't find anywhere in the rules that says what it means to improve an attack dice. Does it mean: 1. Convert a surge to a hit 2. Convert a blank to a hit 3. Something else Thanks in advance.
