Orientation of struggle cards

Is there an official way struggle cards should be orientated before they are flipped? 

Perpendicular to the board?

Parallel to the board with the bottom to the first first player?

Or just agreed by the players before the flip?

The player that won the priority roll should be able to read the card normally (card bottom pointed to their side of the table).
