Leader of the Separatist army clarification on movement

The text says: 

 Leader of the separatist army

At the start of this unit activation choose another allied Separatist Alliance character within 3 range. Each character in this unit and the chosen character may Dash.

From what I understand: 

Is this A: Dooku activates, checks within 3 range for a Separatist Alliance character, then dashes another character within range.

or is this B: Dooku activates, dashes, then checks within 3 range for a character, then dashes said character.

I'm leaning towards A based on the text but would love clarification. Thanks team 🙂
