  1. Question: How does Weapons Failure (critical damage card) interact with Sunny Bounder's (M3-A Interceptor) Pilot Ability? Can I add a matching result if I only rolled 1 attack die? Answer: Yes, if Sunny Bounder rolls only 1 die while attacking or defending, she may add a matching result with her ability.
  2. Question: Does Damaged Engine (critical damage card) affect the difficulty of sideslip maneuver? Answer: No. Sideslips are not turn maneuvers and do not interact with Damaged Engine.
  3. Question: What happens to a ship using Qi'ra (Crew) to ignore a locked obstacle it is overlapping if that lock is removed? Answer: The ship suffers the effects of being at range 0 of the obstacle, but not the effects of moving through it.
  4. Question: Can I use Rose Tico's (Crew) ability to spend the die result given by the Freelance Slicer (Crew) upgrade? Answer: No. Freelance Slicer resolves before the Roll Attack Dice step. Rose Tico resolves during a Modify Dice step. Rose Tico’s ability never has access to spend the Freelance Slicer’s die result due to their distinct timing windows.
  5. Question: When defending with Zam Wesell (Firespray-class Patrol Craft, Crew) and the "You Should Thank Me" condition card, can I still acquire a lock on the attacker if none of my charges are spent? Answer: Yes. These abilities are sequential and Zam Wesell may acquire a lock whether or not she recovered a charge.
  6. Question: If Arvel Crynyd (RZ-1 A-wing) is attacking at range zero while both ships are overlapping an gascloud is the attack obstructed? Answer: Yes, if a ship capable of attacking at range 0 (such as Arvel Crynyd via his pilot ability) is attacking another ship at range 0, and there is an obstacle where range 0 is measured, the attack is considered obstructed.
  7. Rules Reference Correction: Official errata have been made to the following card: •Hera Syndulla (RZ-1 A-Wing and A/SF-01 B-Wing) Should read: "While another friendly ship at range 1-2 defends or performs an attack, during a Modify Dice step, you may transfer 1 of your focus tokens, evade tokens, or locks to that ship." (Added a specific timing window of an attack during which her ability can be used. As before, this ability can only be used once per attack.")
  8. Rules Reference Correction: Official errata have been made to the following card: •Arliz Hadrassian (Scum, BTL-A4 Y-wing) Should read: "While you defend, if you are damaged, before the Modify Defense Dice step, you must change 1 of your focus results to a blank result." (Added a specific timing window to prevent players from circumventing the downsides of the Pilot Ability)
  9. Rules Reference Correction: Official errata have been made to the following card: •Commander Malarus (Xi-class Light Shuttle) Should read: "While a friendly ship at range 0-2 performs a primary attack, before the Modify Dice step, if it has 1 or more blank results, that ship must gain 1 strain token to reroll 1 blank result, if able." (Added a specific timing window to prevent players from circumventing the downsides of the Pilot Ability)
  10. Rules Reference Correction: Official errata have been made to the following card: •Protectorate Gleb Should read: "After you coordinate a friendly ship, you may transfer 1 orange or red token to the ship you coordinated." (Added restriction stipulating friendly ship.)
  11. This thread contains official errata to existing Star Wars: X-Wing cards that have not yet been added to the Rules Reference or Errata Reference. These corrections replace the text of the existing card and are considered accurate, and overrides all other printings and will be deleted whenever the Rule Reference and Errata Reference are updated. A printable PDF of available errata'd cards is available at: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing-second-edition/ under the Support - Rules section at the bottom of the page.
  12. Rules Reference Update: The following changes will be included in an upcoming update. ION: A ship is ionized while it has a number of ion tokens relative to its size: at least one for a small ship, at least two for a medium ship, and at least three for a large ship. Ion tokens are red tokens. During the Planning Phase an ionized ship is not assigned a dial. Secretly set a maneuver on the ship's dial, and place the dial facedown on the ship's card. During the Activation Phase, an ionized ship that did not have a dial assigned to it during the Planning Phase activates as follows: 1. The ship skips its Reveal Dial step. 2. During the Execute Maneuver step, the ionized ship executes the ion maneuver. The ion maneuver is a blue [1 straight] maneuver. The bearing, difficulty, and speed of this maneuver cannot be changed unless an ability explicitly affects the ion maneuver. 3. During the Perform Action step, the ship can perform only the Focus action. 4. After the ship finishes this activation, it removes all of its ion tokens. Additionally: • An ionized ship cannot perform any action except the Focus action. • Some special weapons inflict ion tokens instead of dealing damage. • If a ship becomes ionized after the Planning Phase (and therefore has been assigned a dial) but before it has activated during the Activation Phase, it activates as normal. During the next Planning Phase, if the ship is still ionized, it is not assigned a dial and proceeds with the ion maneuver during the Activation Phase. • If a ship that was ionized during the Planning Phase is no longer ionized at the beginning of its activation, assign the ship the facedown maneuver dial from its card. The ship then activates as normal. • Since an ionized ship does not have a dial assigned to it and does not reveal its dial, it cannot resolve any effects that trigger after it reveals its dial.
  13. Rules Reference Update: The following changes will be included in an upcoming update. PLANNING PHASE: The Planning Phase is the first phase of the round. During the Planning Phase, each player secretly sets a maneuver for each of their ships. To set a ship’s maneuver, the player takes a dial matching the ship’s type and rotates the dial until the arrow points at the desired maneuver. Then the dial is placed facedown in the play area next to the matching ship. The phase ends when each ship has a dial assigned to it and both players agree to proceed to the System Phase. • Players can assign their dials in any order. • Players are allowed to change their selections on their dials as long as the phase has not ended. • A player must inform their opponent if they wish to touch or look at one of their dials during the System or Activation Phase. • Ionized ships are not assigned dials. • If a player forgets to set a maneuver dial for a ship during the Planning Phase, during its activation the ship gains a stress, then performs a Stress Maneuver (White 2 Straight).
  14. Question: If I Coordinate a ship that has a stress token, does the Coordinate action fail? Answer: No. The Coordinate action only fails when no valid ship (ie. "another friendly ship") is chosen. The Coordinate would succeed, regardless of the chosen ship's ability to resolve the rest of the effect.
  15. Question: Can a ship perform a linked action when using Pattern Analyzer (Tech)? Answer: Yes. The linked action resolves in the timing window "after you perform an action" which, in this case, precedes "before the Check Difficulty step".
  16. Question: When placing ships using the Hyperspace Tracking Data (Tech) upgrade, can I only choose from initiative 1-5? Answer: No, before placing forces, you may choose one of the following numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. Treat your initiative as the chosen value during Setup.
  17. Question: Can Lieutenant Tavson (Upsilon-class Shuttle) trigger his Pilot Ability twice if he suffers two damage in a single attack? Answer: Yes, when a ship suffers damage, that damage is suffered one at a time. If Lieutenant Tavson has unspent charges and is not restricted from performing actions by other effects, he may resolve his Pilot Ability after each damage suffered.
  18. Question: When exactly does the Autopilot Drone (Escape Craft) lose a charge? Answer: Docking/undocking and the Autopilot Drone's Ship Ability resolve along with any other “During the System Phase” abilities, in sequence from the ship with the lowest initiative and continuing in ascending order. Example 1: Autopilot Drone begins the System Phase docked. At Initiative 1, the Autopilot Drone may undock. Rigged Energy Cells does not enter the ability queue, as the Drone is in reserve, and no charge is lost even if it undocks. Example 2: Autopilot Drone begins the System Phase undocked at range 0 of Lando’s Millennium Falcon. At Initiative 1, both the docking ability and Rigged Energy Cells enter the ability queue. If the Drone docks first, Rigged Energy Cells does not resolve as it is in reserve. Alternatively, it may resolve Rigged Energy Cells first, then dock.
  19. Question: When placing a ship with the Boba Fett (crew) upgrade at range 0 of an obstacle during the Place Forces step, does the ship suffer any of the effects of overlapping that obstacle? Answer: No. You do not suffer the effects of obstacles if you are placed at range 0 during the Place Forces step.
  20. Question: Can Darth Vader (TIE/D Defender) spend 1 force to use Foresight (Force Power) to attack an enemy ship in the Activation Phase? Answer: No. Foresight's Force payment is the cost to resolve the ability, not the cost to perform the attack. After an enemy ship executes a maneuver, Vader is not yet attacking, and therefore cannot pay the cost.
  21. Question: When my Trade Federation Drone (Vulture-class Droid Fighter) reloads his Energy-Shell Charges in the Perform Action step, do I have to gain one Disarm token? Answer: Yes. The action granted by Energy-Shell Charges follows all of the rules for reload except step one: the card specifies that it must be chosen as the target of the reload. All other reload steps should be followed (step two: That card recovers one charge, and step three: The ship gains one disarm token). If a ship is able to perform a reload action from another source, this action may be taken in the same round.
  22. Question: How does the Tie Defender Elite (configuration) upgrade work with Countess Ryad (Tie Defender)? Answer: Countess Ryad’s ability is a replacement effect, which takes a straight maneuver, increases its difficulty, and replaces it with a Kiogran turn. The replaced effect is treated as having not occurred and is no longer a straight maneuver, but a Kiogran turn. If she has the TIE Defender Elite upgrade equipped, the difficulty of the maneuver is further increased to red.
  23. Question: Can I choose to cancel either a hit result or critical result when using General Grievous (crew), or do I have to choose hit results before critical results. Answer: You can choose. General Grievous' ability occurs after the Neutralize Results step, so there is no restriction as to whether hit results or critcal results must be canceled first.
  24. Question: While performing a special attack out of the rear arc, does Krassis Trelix's (Firespray-31) Pilot Ability trigger Outmaneuver when using a special weapon with a front arc attack restriction? Answer: No. While Krassis Trelix can perform front arc special attacks from his rear arc, these attacks are still rear arc attacks; therefore, Outmaneuver does not trigger on these attacks.
  25. Question: Does Chopper (crew) allow me to take a free action? Answer: No, Chopper (crew) does not grant additional actions; he simply permits you to perform your standard Perform Action step action, even while stressed.
