Knowledge and Defense trigger with a two character unit

Recommended Posts

Obi-wan's identity, Knowledge and Defense would only allow one character in a two character support unit to move, correct?

e.g. One character of the 501st is the target of an attack and the unit has 2 hunker tokens on it. After the attack is resolved the defending player triggers General Obi-wan's identity and the 501st Unit removes both hunker tokens. One character in that unit then Heals twice, removing a total combination of two damage or conditions. Heal says:

"The affected character may remove one condition or one damage from its Unit or another allied Unit within Range 2."

So the character is healing not the unit, so according to Knowledge and Defense: (...each character that heal may dash) only the one character chosen who healed will get to dash.

Is this correct?

So the wording "one character in that unit may heal for each hunker removed" means one character per hunker token, not one heal per hunker token?

And if that is so does that mean a single character unit like Anakin would only have one available character to choose under this identity, so no matter how many hunker tokens he removes, Anakin could only heal once? Or can you choose the same character multiple times in a unit?

If the Unit has more than one Hunker token, you can have more than one character Heal and then benefit from the granted dash.

Only the characters that Heal will be able to dash.

Hello,

could you please explain this in a little more detail. Knowledge and defence says:
that character's Unit may remove all its [hunker]. If it does, one character in that unit may [recover] for each [hunker] removed. Then each character that [recover] may [dash]

If only 1 character may recover and then only a character that recovered can dash how can both characters dash? Really struggling to wrap my head around this ruling so some clarity would be very much appreciated to help me explain it when an opponent fairly calls shenanigans if I dash two characters!

An important distinction between the card and what you have here is that it’s a heal, not a recover. A recover would provide a heal to each character in a multiple character unit.

It’s one character per hunker token removed, not one character total. It’s written in this format to be clear that only one character in a multiple character unit, not each character, gets to heal per hunker token removed.

It's one Heal per Hunker token. In your example, Anakin would be able to use Heal once per Hunker token (2 tokens would grant two Heals).

Okay it might just be the language used then because this is how it reads to me:

"...that character's Unit may remove all its [hunker]. If it does, one character in that unit may [heal] for each [hunker] removed. Then each character that [heal] may [dash]"

So a two character unit with 2 hunker tokens gets attacked. "that character's Unit may remove all its [hunker]" So 2 hunker tokens are removed.

"If it does, one character in that unit may [heal] for each [hunker] removed." So you select one character in that unit and heal it for each hunker token that was removed (we removed two hunker tokens so the character heals twice.)

"Then each character that [heal] may [dash]" Only one character was healed and therefore only one character dashes?

Am I just not reading the ability correctly? Its very likely that but I am just finding it very hard to read it in a way that lets you heal multiple characters.

This part of the ability is limiting the amount of Healing available to the Unit. It does not limit all Healing granted by this ability to a single character.
