Beam X and Minimum Range

The Beam X weapon keyword states:

Quote

Each additional attack must be ... in LOS of the attacking unit but may be beyond the maximum range of the weapon with the Beam X keyword.

When performing an additional attack with a Beam X weapon can the defending unit be closer than the minimum range of the weapon with the Beam X keyword (e.g. with the Overwhelming Barrage command card)?

The additional attacks may target defenders beyond the weapon's maximum range, but may not target defenders closer than the weapon's minimum range.
