Thermal Shields at Speed 0
DSchultz replied to AdvocatusDeLibello's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
No. Per RRG in the defense tokens topic. "• If the defender’s speed is “0,” it cannot spend defense tokens." -
Early Warning System getting removed mid round
DSchultz replied to BigStompem's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
In this instance for Early Warning System all effects, positive or negative, would end immediately. When a card is discarded (flipped facedown), it is no longer in play, unless specifically stated otherwise such as with Fleet Commands. -
General Tagge ability
DSchultz replied to StrategicEwok's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Hello! No, Generals Tagge would not resolve if the card is discarded, as it is no longer in play when the appropriate timing window is reached to resolve its effect. -
Raid Tokens and Commands
DSchultz replied to Commander Czym's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Correct, "spend" is not the same as "discard". "Spending" may lead to it being "discarded" but the reverse is not true unless otherwise specified. To ensure no confusion. Per RRG topic on Raid, You are not "spending" a command dial or a command token to clear raid tokens, you are "discarding" them. Nor is this resolving any commands. -
Early Warning System getting removed mid round
DSchultz replied to BigStompem's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
In this instance, Iif Early Warning System is discarded by an effect, and a "Chaff" token has been placed on a ships hull zone, the "Chaff" token would remain. But there would no longer be any negative or positive effect associated with that token. -
Raid Tokens and Commands
DSchultz replied to Commander Czym's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Hello! Thank you for the question, lets see... Please note that the timing of clearing Raid tokens is only in the "Reveal Command Dial" step of a ships activation and at no other time. But yes, you can "discard" the squadron token assigned to that ship to clear the squadron raid token. Then declare you will be using the squadron dial to resolve a squadron command at the appropriate time. "Discarding" the squadron token to clear a raid token is not resolving that command. -
Hello! It is B) You must discard a squadron command dial or a squadron command token (players choice) AND also that upgrade card to resolve that upgrade cards effect.

Raid Token Clearance Timing Window
DSchultz replied to Ardaedhel's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Hello! Thank you for the question. No. To elaborate, You can only discard raid tokens in one of two ways in the "Reveal Command Dial" step. 1. "it may discard that dial to discard all raid its raid tokens". Meaning you discard that ships revealed command dial to discard all raid tokens or 2. "discard a command token to discard a matching raid token.". Meaning you can only discard a single command token to discard its matching raid token if you choose to resolve removing raid in that fashion. Otherwise it would state that you could discard multiple command tokens to discard multiple raid tokens. -
Exogorths Line of Sight and Obstruction
DSchultz replied to Riazur's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Correct, it is referencing to attacks only made by the Exogorth when it conducts attacks. Its attacks cannot be obstructed by itself, or the chosen obstacle it is touching. All other attacks when tracing Line of Sight would still be obstructed unless otherwise specified. -
Hello! No. As Comms Net timing is "After the Reveal Command Dial step".

Hello Duke, thank you for your patience as your initial questions and follow up questions were reviewed. I can understand how confusing this subject matter can be, so these answers should clear this up. Due to the lengthy subject matter, Duke's responses and mine have been edited to better fit this forums format. For anyone reading this, PLEASE follow forum guidelines of only "one question per topic" as multiple "what-ifs" and follow up questions can quickly muddle what the initial question being asked is, which leads to longer response time and potentially confusing answers. Yes, a fleet can be worth more than 400 points as all currently equipped upgrade cards and their point costs are counted. But it cannot be worth less than 400 points. No. They are not considered destroyed, but their point value is still calculated for scoring purposes. Regardless of what the total score is for either player at the end of the game, "the winning player subtracts the loser’s score from his or her score.". Note, the maximum Margin of Victory a winning player can score is 400, and the minimum Margin of Victory a winning player can score is 0. For your first example. Number 2 is correct. For your second example, Number 2 is correct. Yes, the score is added to the "total fleet point value" then used to determine Margin of Victory. Thank you for your opinion, hopefully this answer helps. In short, "total fleet point value" and "final score" (mentioned by Opening Salvo) are different wordings that mean the same thing. The scores that each player obtain in order for the winner's score to be then subtracted by the losers score. Meaning, if an opponents fleet is worth less than 400 points, it is rounded up to at least 400 points, and then any additional points granted by card effects are then applied to increase a players "total fleet point value" / "final score". Such as from Mercy Mission, Most Wanted, etc. The total fleet point value that a player obtains in order to then determine the winning players MoV. Once this total fleet point value is obtained, then "the winning player subtracts the loser’s score from his or her score. This is the winner’s Margin of Victory (“MoV”) for the round."

Aug 2nd Edit: Apologies about the previous answer. After further careful consideration, the following conclusion was reached. A squadron that is given the "Counter" keyword or has its "Counter" increased provided by TI-99's effect would only resolve with an unactivated squadron. A squadron activated by "Dutch" Vander would not be able to conduct a "Counter" attack if it does not have that keyword printed on its squadron card and a squadron with the "Counter" keyword cannot increase its "Counter".

Hello. 🙂 No, it is not permitted. When resolving the "Toward" keyword, move the obstacle centrally along the line as shown in the "Moving Obstacles" example found on page 13 of the Rules Reference Guide. The obstacle may still be freely rotated, as long as it is done centrally along the line.

Gunnery Team and Attacking Squadrons: Timing
DSchultz replied to Ardaedhel's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Thank you for your patience as this question was reviewed. To answer your question. It is the first, you must resolve the Concentrate Fire Command on the last squadron you attack in order to then be able to resolve the effect of Gunnery Team. -
Hello!Yes, it appears the reprint text is incorrect, as Sunder has not received any errata. The correct version of this card is the original text found on the original upgrade card, which is the following text."Blue or Black Critical: You may discard this card to choose and discard 1 Offensive Retrofit, Defensive Retrofit, Ordnance, Ion Cannons, or Turbolaser upgrade card equipped to the defender."

Intel officer an evade
DSchultz replied to David Kennedy's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
The defender is able to "spend" and then choose to "discard" the evade token before it can be "discarded" by Intel Officer's effect. -
Reactive Gunnery and duplicate tokens
DSchultz replied to AsanoHa87's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Yes, you are prevented. The defender cannot "spend" two defense tokens of the same type in the same attack. No. -

Krysta Agate and Profundity
DSchultz replied to SuperZuk's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
Hello! No. As the Ship set aside by Profundity must be deployed before any upgrade cards are unequipped and then equipped to the now deployed ship.
