Derek Klivian and Airen Cracken
Tim H replied to Brewski's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes, Derek Klivian's ability would trigger to allow the removal of a red token after he performs the Red Lock action granted by Airen Cracken's ability. -
Poe Dameron and tow action in salvage mission.
Tim H replied to Flobby18's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
No, Poe's extra action cannot be used to perform the scenario Tow action. This action can only be done as the action in the perform action step.- 1 reply

The stress from performing a red SLAM action is not received until after the red action has been performed (Under Stress in the V1.4.4 of the RRG). As a result, assuming that the ship is not stressed at the time the "exclusively overlapping enemy ships" effect for a red <focus> or <calculate> action is resolved, they will be able to perform said action and then after that maneuver is finished being resolved it will gain another stress from the red SLAM action. See this post for more detail on SLAM and the red focus action granted by Exclusively overlapping enemy ships while partially performing a maneuvre.

playing with only one set of dice
Tim H replied to Szpinak's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
There are no rules for this situation, so in a casual game players should come to a mutual agreement on how to resolve this. In a tournament setting, the players should call a judge to help them resolve the situation -
Lin Gaava using the modification slot
Tim H replied to KyloChris's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes Lin Gavva (TIE/fo pilot) is able to assign themselves the Primed for speed condition even if they have equipped modification upgrades. The "No equipped modification upgrades" restriction only applies to the other 2 TIE/fo or TIE/sf fighters. -
No, these upgrades have no effect on whether the supply cache needs to be jettisoned after suffering a critical damage. In all of the above cases the ship will still suffer the critical damage, it just potentially changes how the card was dealt after this. A critical damage being suffered into shields will also cause the supply cache to be jettisoned even though no damage card is dealt.

Only one token could be spent to change one focus result to an evade or hit due to the "once per opportunity" rule (page 2 of the RRG V1.4.4). If a second trigger were to occur (eg a second instance of an attack being performed or if ship defends) you would then be able to spend the other available token.

Magna Tolvan ability question
Tim H replied to disco9100's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Assuming that after performing the red coordinate you have 2 or fewer tokens, then yes Magna would be able to perform a white action that she has not yet performed that round. -
Primed Thrusters for Silencer's Autothrusters
Tim H replied to Mucurini's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes, Primed Thrusters can be used to perform the Red Boost/Barrel Roll granted by Autothrusters as long as the ship has 2 or fewer tokens. Note, they will still gain another stress token from performing or failing the red action granted by Autothrusters. -
Cluster Missiles: 2nd attack check range timing
Tim H replied to Cricco's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Bonus attacks (such as the second attack with cluster missiles) occur in step 6D of the attack sequence (Page 5 of the V1.4.4 RRG). It is at this stage you will be able to measure range to see which targets are valid for the second attack. -
Questions about ship's ability action fail
Tim H replied to HEXID's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Failing the boost or barrel roll granted by Fine-tuned Controls does not force you to skip your perform action phase. So if you were going to be able to perform an action during the perform action step then you still will be able to (assuming nothing else has occurred to prevent you from doing so).- 1 reply

thermal detonators - stacking bombs
Tim H replied to Zoran's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
No, the requirement of using a different template still must be met to drop multiple bombs even if Skilled Bombardier is used to modify the template being used. Using skilled bombardier to increase a 1 speed drop to a 2 speed drop still uses the same template as a default 2 speed drop.- 1 reply

No, Crackshot cannot cancel the additional evade added by reinforce because the evade is added after Crackshot is triggered. Crackshot triggers "before the Neutralize results step" while the evade added by reinforce (if possible) is not added until "during the Neutralize results" step.

Yes, if the commandos move and overlap an enemy ship that ship gains one strain token. This interaction is found within the "Other Rules" entry of the detailed rules for Commando Teams on page 27 of V1.4.4 of the Rules Reference.
-
Yes, The rules surrounding the red focus granted for exclusively overlapping enemy ships during a maneuver also apply for the maneuver performed as part of a SLAM action. Skipping the perform action step is a result of performing the red focus action or having to roll for damage for overlapping your own ships, it is not a cost paid to be able to perform the action so has no impact on whether the trigger can occur during a SLAM action maneuver.

As tracking fob is limited it cannot be equipped as the facedown card under Razor Crest. But in the scenario where it could be equipped the condition is never assigned as the card is not active during setup and thus the "Setup: <Do stuff>" will never trigger

Grappling struts and ionized
Tim H replied to negroscuro's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Under the Ion rules there is a clarification point that states "Ships cannot use abilities that trigger from an ionized ship revealing its dial". The component of the "Open: Grappling Struts" ability that causes the execute maneuver to be skipped depending on the move is triggered by an "After you reveal your dial" clause. As a result this ability cannot be used by the Ionized ship and the Ionized ship would execute the Ion Maneuver during step two potentially landing off the rock. It would then follow on with the rest of the steps for activating while ionized. -
R2-D2[Republic; Astromech] vs Electro-chaff Cloud
Tim H replied to 脸黑的饿货's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes R2D2 can be used to remove a fuse token from Electro-Chaff. An update will be made to the RRG to better clarify this in the future. -
Seismic Charge vs Ablative Plating
Tim H replied to nitrobenz's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes, Ablative plating can prevent the damage from the obstacle that was the selected target for the Seismic Charge bomb. -
Death Trooper interactions with other cards
Tim H replied to Travis's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Assuming all conditions are met (eg that the enemy is at range 0 or 1 of the ship with Death troopers) they are unable to remove their stress tokens and thus are unable to use any ability which would allow stress tokens to be removed (eg Anakin, Jek and Nien). Volan is a slightly different in that part of their ability is "may remove" which means optionally. As a result Volan is still able to give out the strain token to the enemy ship, however they would be unable to remove the stress token as part of the ability because the Cannot will override the may condition. Aftab cannot use their pilot ability if they are at range 0-1 of the ship with Death Troopers at the time it would trigger because ships can only pay costs if the effect can be resolved, and since you are unable to remove the stress token it means the effect cannot be resolved, thus you cannot gain the strain token. -
Iden Versio & Thread Tracers
Tim H replied to Mace Windu's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Iden's (Tie/ln pilot) ability can prevent damage from being suffered which during an attack usually occurs in step 5. However Thread Tracers cancel all dice results after the ships acquire the lock as a result of the attack hitting. The hit occurs at the end of step 4 and so do the resulting acquiring of locks and cancelling of results. So this means that the dice results of the Tracer attack are cancelled before damage would be suffered and as a result Iden cannot be used for a Thread Tracers attack. -
Kickback SoC linked actions limit?
Tim H replied to negroscuro's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
Yes Kickback Pilot can perform a Barrel-Roll, then nominate that they will be doing both the pilot ability Lock and Linked action evade. The sequence could be * Perform a barrel roll * Place the pilot ability in the queue & place the linked action in the queue as they both trigger from "After performing an <action>" triggers. * Pop the pilot ability from the ability queue and perform the red Lock as white by gaining one strain * Pop the linked action from the ability queue and do a red evade. This way Kickback would have performed a roll, lock and evade and have a strain and stress token as a result.- 1 reply

Yes, being instructed to be "dealt 1 facedown damage card" is different to be instructed to "suffer one damage". When a player is instructed to be "dealt a damage card", the card is dealt to the ship regardless of whether the ship has any active shields. (This rule can be found under the Damage heading in the RRG. Specifically first dot point on page 9 of the V1.4.4 of the RRG)

Does Countdown count for Ubbel’s ability
Tim H replied to Elfro's topic in Star Wars: X-Wing Rules Questions
While countdown can cancel all dice results by suffering a damage, if that Countdown has no active shields, it will be dealt a damage card as a result of suffering one damage. This also occurs while you are defending, So Ubbel's timing window is active because Countdown was dealt a damage card while defending even when their ability is used.
